Note:This post originally stated that I would be going on a sort of media fast where I would abstain from using the computer for the entire month of January. It also had some stupid references to surfers which I now regret. anyway,I have already broken this ‘fast’, so now that is out of the way, I am going to write some real resolutions, that I hope will come true.
1. After the strong suggestions from a friend, and my own deductive thinking I have decided to use the computer and the internet. I will cut back on my computer usage, and really cut back on my internet usage.* He suggests that all tension in my life is caused by digg. I don’t know if I completely agree, but I can tell you that digg is a distraction to me. I am going to completely abstain from visiting digg for the month of January, and will begin filtering the stories I get when I start visiting it again in February.
2. I should probably get some sort of job. I know that I won’t get a job until after I finish High School, but when that is over I should probably start looking, and find something that I love to do. I don’t know what I want to do with my life yet, but I am sure it will require cash; Everything does. Its hard to understand my mindset, but I really don’t want to worry about this kind of thing until I have to. (I hope that makes sense for those that needed to hear it.) In my Junior year of High School, I thought I wanted to go to college. This year I thought that I didn’t want to go. Now, I think that I do want to go to college in some way. It probably won’t right out of High School, but it will happen.
3. I really want to get a camera. Without a steady cash flow ,as previously stated, this wish is little more than a wish. I will try my best to save, like I did last year,* and hopefully I can get a nice dslr camera. I guess only time can tell. Speaking of time,
*I saved for an ipod, under the same circumstances
All the best with your New Year’s Resolution. I would imagine it’d be difficult *totally* abstaining from the computer in this day and age. Personally, I would’ve probably decided to only used the computer when necessary and with *moderation*…Then again, that’s easier said than done. Your description of a surfers’ lifestyle seems exaggerated by the way :D. Good luck once again.
